Job summary

COP Construction LLC in Billings, MT supports construction, maintenance, and turnaround work at refinery and industrial sites in the Billings area, including Phillips 66, CHS, and Par facilities. Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Previous experience in construction or a related field is preferred.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Strong work ethic and reliability.
  • Basic understanding of construction principles and procedures.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions.
  • Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to satisfy all pre-employment and client/site-access screening requirements, including background checks and drug/alcohol testing.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the setup and cleanup of construction sites.
  • Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Operate hand and power tools as required.
  • Perform manual labor tasks such as digging, lifting, and moving materials.
  • Support skilled tradespeople, including carpenters and equipment operators.
  • Follow all COP Construction, client, and refinery site safety rules; wear required PPE; and stop work when an unsafe condition is identified.
  • Complete all required company, client, refinery, and site-specific safety orientations and training before beginning work.
  • Participate in pre-task planning, JSAs, toolbox talks, permit reviews, and other required safety meetings.
  • Comply with refinery requirements related to access control, badging, restricted areas, work permits, energy isolation, hot work, confined spaces, fall protection, respiratory protection, mobile equipment, and emergency response, as applicable to assigned work.
  • Immediately report hazards, near misses, incidents, injuries, spills, security concerns, and damaged equipment to supervision.
  • Maintain situational awareness around operating process units, heavy equipment, vehicles, elevated work, hazardous materials, and changing site conditions.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Job Summary:

Supports construction, maintenance, and turnaround work at refinery and industrial sites in the Billings, Montana area, including Phillips 66, CHS, and Par facilities. This position performs a variety of manual labor and site-support tasks while maintaining strict compliance with COP Construction, client, and site-specific safety, security, quality, and environmental requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the setup and cleanup of construction sites.

  • Support skilled tradespeople, including carpenters and equipment operators.

Refinery and Site Access Requirements:
  • Must meet all COP Construction and client/site-owner access requirements for assigned facilities, which may include Phillips 66, CHS, and Par sites in the Billings area.
  • Must successfully complete required background screening before site access and any additional or periodic screening required by the client or facility.
  • Must successfully complete required drug and alcohol testing, which may include pre-employment, pre-access, random, post-incident, reasonable-suspicion, return-to-duty, follow-up, or other testing required by company policy, a client program, or applicable law.
  • Must remain eligible for refinery access and promptly report any change that could affect required credentials, badging, or site authorization.
  • Must complete and maintain required safety orientations, training, certifications, fit testing, and site credentials for assigned work.
  • Must comply with all site security, search, prohibited-item, electronic-device, tobacco, and conduct requirements.
  • Must be able to wear required PPE and respiratory protection and comply with related fit, grooming, and medical-clearance requirements when applicable.
  • Refusal to participate in required screening or failure to maintain site-access eligibility may disqualify an applicant from assignment or affect continued employment, consistent with company policy and applicable law.
