Vulcan Materials Company is seeking an entry-level Overnights General Maintenance worker for a 5pm–5am shift. The role supports preventive maintenance, assists with basic tasks, and helps identify growth potential within the company.

Under supervision, you will learn basic job functions and contribute to safe, efficient plant operations while developing skills for long-term career development in the materials industry.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Willingness to learn basic maintenance tasks.
• Exposure to preventative maintenance processes under supervision.

• Experience with maintenance is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-shift and post-shift equipment inspections, lubricate moving parts, and complete scheduled preventative maintenance tasks to prevent component failures.
• Troubleshoot and replace basic mechanical components, including conveyor belts, idlers, pulleys, and water pumps.
• Perform structural repairs, hard facing, and replace heavy wear-parts using welding, cutting, and grinding equipment.
• Adhere to MSHA and OSHA regulations, execute LOTO protocols, and maintain a hazard‑free work area.
• Observe aggregate crushing, washing, and screening areas during operation to identify anomalies and perform minor adjustments.
• Record and maintain service logs, lubrication reports, and maintenance records for plant equipment.

Essential Functions

• Conduct pre-shift and post-shift equipment inspections, lubricate moving parts, and complete scheduled preventative maintenance tasks to prevent component failures.
• Troubleshoot and replace basic mechanical components, including conveyor belts, idlers, pulleys, and water pumps.
• Perform structural repairs, hard facing, and replace heavy wear-parts (such as crusher liners and shaker screens) using welding, cutting, and grinding equipment.
• Strictly adhere to MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) and OSHA regulations, execute Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols, and maintain a hazard‑free work area.
• Observe aggregate crushing, washing, and screening areas during operation to identify anomalies by sight or sound and perform minor adjustments.
• Record and maintain service logs, lubrication reports, and maintenance records for plant equipment.

Responsibilities

Education

• High School diploma or GED equivalent required.

Experience

• Experience in maintenance, preferably within the around heavy equipment and machines.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Basic understanding of workplace safety and the ability to follow safety procedures
• General awareness of tools and equipment used on‑site
• Willingness to learn mechanical and maintenance fundamentals
• Exposure to preventative maintenance processes under supervision

Other Requirements

• Entry level mechanic, qualified to perform general utility work and light maintenance under supervision of experienced mechanic.
• Knowledge of using a wide variety of hand and power tools, cutting torches and welding equipment.
• Knowledge of electrical equipment maintenance.
• Safety and compliance with MSHA procedures and requirements.
• A valid driver's license.
• Ability to work 5pm-5am shift.
