Job Description Summary

The General Laborer is responsible for safely and efficiently performing general labor duties at a hauling company, transfer station, materials recycling facility (MRF), or landfill. Responsibilities include yard clean-up, fueling vehicles and equipment, general vehicle operation, office maintenance, and other related duties.

Key Responsibilities:

• Clean up work areas.
• Fuel vehicles and equipment.
• Maintain tracks on track-type equipment.
• Perform yard work, including mowing and trash pickup.
• Operate site vehicles and equipment such as water trucks, sweepers, mowers, and trimming tools.
• Perform general office maintenance, repairs, painting, and janitorial tasks.
• Direct traffic at the site as needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Experience in outdoor work, warehouse, or similar environment.
• Ability to meet safety standards for sensitive functions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to follow instructions and perform duties independently.
• Equipment operation skills.
• Effective communication with customers and team members.
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and reporting.
• Adherence to safety policies and laws, including OSHA standards.

Physical/Mental Demands:

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift outdoors most of the time.
• Use hands, fingers, kneel, crawl, talk, hear, climb, and balance.
• Visual acuity for various vision needs.
• Lift up to 65 pounds manually; push/move up to 100 pounds with assistance.

Working Conditions:

• Outdoor environment with weather variations.
• Exposure to odors, fumes, dust, and uneven ground.
