Responsibilities

The main duties of our general loabourers is the safe and efficient transfer of dry bulk products to truck/rail-car by use of specialized equipment, conveyor system, grain blower, and hostler truck.

• Unloading and handling of materials consisting of a variety of dry bulk products
• Assist with general yard clean up and maintenance
• Operate high-capacity forklifts
• Work in adherence to all safe work practices and procedures, as well as all regulatory requirements
• Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase the efficiency of the yard, shop, department, or work crew
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager

You Possess

• A sound understanding or aptitude to learn thetransloading of bulk commodities is an asset
• Previous experience operating specialized equipment such as hostler trucks, grain blowers, conveyors (grain handling), forklifts, and shunt trucks is an asset
• Previous warehouse experience is an asset
• Experience working a rail yard is an asset
• Experience transloading is an asset
• Mechanical inclination
• Ability to complete the physical aspects of the job including opening and closing rail cars dome lids, climbing rail car's (heights), crawling under railcars, walking long distances on uneven terrain
• Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
• Ability to lift 50lbs and climb ladders
• Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
• Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule
