Job description

Assists in general tasks to support the needs of producing and packaging products according to company and governmental standards.

ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

This is a general laborer position. Tasks may include, but are not limited to, packing products, stacking and unstacking to meet customer orders, sorting finished goods, documenting damaged goods, verifying packaging codes and UPCs to match planned products, general cleaning and sanitation of the facility and surrounding grounds, and other tasks as assigned by management.

Participates as a member of the team, contributing to ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies. Coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members. Attends team meetings and fosters cohesiveness regarding major issues such as direction, plans, budgets, and policy changes. Identifies areas lacking cohesiveness and works with the team leader to resolve issues, actively seeking ways to achieve synergy within the organization.

Familiar with Simmons’ operating systems principles and objectives, including quality, security, and company policies. Maintains awareness of the impact of individual actions on these systems and communicates concerns and improvement ideas.

Performs other duties as necessary to support business objectives. This description guides the activities of the position but does not limit the scope of work or creativity required.

Physical activities include lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying up to 30 lbs, standing for the entire shift, and working in extreme hot/cold and wet/dry environments.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required includes steel-toed shoes, ear plugs, hair net, safety vest, and hard hat where required.
