What You’ll Do:

1. General Support: This role is intended to provide general support for construction crews that could use an extra hand, including, but not limited to, asphalt paving crews, grading crews, pipe-laying crews, asphalt plants, concrete crews, or shop maintenance.
2. Promote Safety: In accordance with OSHA and Vulcan standards, take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times.
3. Perform General Physical Activities: Perform a variety of tasks assisting with the operation of the crews, including but not limited to using hand tools, shoveling/raking materials, collecting material tickets, measuring & layout activities, and quality assurance.
4. Repair and Maintain Equipment: Assist co-workers in servicing, repairing, and inspecting various pieces of equipment on the job site.
5. Inspect Equipment and Structures: Perform daily inspections and maintenance of plant equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations that maximize production and minimize interruptions.
6. Operate Vehicles and Equipment: This opportunity will have the potential to operate heavy construction equipment such as Loaders, Rollers, Backhoes, Brooms, Graders, Bulldozers, and Excavators.
7. Additional Responsibilities: Other duties as assigned.

Skills You’ll Need:

1. Experience: Previous experience in the aggregate or construction industry is preferred.
2. Knowledge of Best Practices: Knowledge of general principles and practices of industrial maintenance, construction, or aggregate production is preferred.
3. Flexibility: Must be able to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
4. Mechanical Skills: Must have some knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance.
