Job description

To help us drive excellence, as a Designer, you will get to:

1. Support the Company’s mission, vision, values, and goals in performance of daily activities.
2. Lifts metal part or stock onto machine and secures it on machine table, in chuck, or holding fixture.
3. Performs manual bench-type tasks such as sawing, filing, grinding, Milling, Drilling, painting, etc.
4. Removes burrs and excess metal from machined parts.
5. Inspects parts, components, visually for quality defects such as scrap marks, rust, burrs, etc.
6. Delivers metal parts or stock to designated work areas for machining.
7. Inspects and ensures parts, components, and assemblies meet specifications.
8. Labels and/or tag parts and baskets.
9. Make deliveries or pick-ups when needed.
10. Collect or distribute heat treat items.
11. Monitors machine operations for malfunctions or problems and notifies supervisor or maintenance immediately upon discovery.
12. Performs routine and preventative maintenance and setup work to maintain machines according to schedules, which may require repairing, replacing, and lubricating parts.
13. Adds coolant to reservoirs of machines and lubricates machine parts and ways.
14. Responsible for snow and ice removal; sidewalks, entrances, between buildings.
15. Dump steel and aluminum scrap and ensure pickup when full.
16. Dump shop trash containers.
17. Compact and bundle cardboard for recycling.
18. Gather paper and plastic for recycling.
19. Cleans around work areas to keep orderly and safe by sweeping the floor, scrubbing floor, removing scrap and refuse, and storing tools and parts.
20. Performs all duties and operates machinery and equipment according to MIOSHA standards and company procedures using required safety equipment (gloves, steel toe shoes, safety glasses, etc.).

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Must meet job posting eligibility requirements per company policy.
• Ability to run all tool room and precision equipment efficiently.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Must have a valid driver license.
• Must be able to safely operate forklift.
• Must be able to safely operate overhead cranes.
• High level of commitment.
• Ability and willingness to learn.
• Adaptive to a fast-paced environment.

This full-time role in our Maintenance team reports to the Operations Manager.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

High school Diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education or experience.
