Role Summary

The General Laborer 1 role will be responsible for assisting other skilled trades/crafts working on a variety of construction projects including new construction, renovations, and other project types. General laborers utilize a variety of tools and specialized equipment. Duties may include site cleanup, loading, unloading, handling and distributing materials, fixtures and other tasks as assigned. Role responsibilities are not all encompassing as specific work tasks, project types, and build phases drastically vary. This is a broad representation of the type of tasks and requirements required of General Laborers at JE Dunn. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision, and values of JE Dunn.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core

• Assist other skilled trades by loading, unloading, and distributing materials as assigned.
• Assist in dismantling and transporting construction materials.
• Collect and dispose of trash on and around the jobsite daily.
• Perform general cleaning and trash removal for the jobsite trailer.
• Clean and maintain concrete and forming tools.
• Operate pumps and equipment for site dewatering needs.
• Organize and clean conex containers and gang boxes daily.
• Responsible for construction gate duty and flagging responsibilities.
• Ensure accurate material identification and proper use of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
• Operate a buck hoist safely and effectively.
• Assist with demolition operations.
• Follow Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) protocols and OSHA standards.
• Adhere to all JE Dunn safety standards.
• Expected behavioral standards include punctuality, respect, safety, and a positive attitude.

Education

• High School Diploma or GED (Preferred).
• Apprentice and/or Vocational/Technical/Trade training (Preferred).
• Relevant experience considered in lieu of formal education.

Experience

• 0-2 years of commercial construction experience (Preferred).

Working Environment

• Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
• Exposure to extreme conditions (hot or cold).
• Willing to work non-traditional hours.
• Reliable transportation required.
• Comfortable working at heights, in narrow spaces, and trenches.
• Frequent activities include standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, carrying, reaching, pushing, pulling, and balancing.
• Occasional activities include sitting and computer work.
