The laborer position involves physical labor and the use of a variety of hand and power tools. The ideal candidate will possess basic construction skills, be capable of performing small jobs unassisted, be organized, and know how to effectively communicate with others while keeping a positive attitude. Must be able to exercise independent judgment as to work methods, tools, and equipment required. This position may be required to perform a variety of other duties assigned in addition to those listed below.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Completing assigned tasks while ensuring the quality and quantity of your work; always maintaining high standards.
- Demonstrating a working knowledge of construction and safety measures.
- Maintain equipment.
- Fuel equipment.
- Notify the supervisor of equipment repairs needed.
- Placement of conduit as directed by supervisor.
- Support with trench digging and closing.
- Support with movement of material and vehicles as directed by supervisor.
- Pull wire and cable through openings.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to understand and follow company policies, procedures, products, and services.
- Knowledge and competency with each machine type.
- Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with a diverse group of individuals.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, such as climbing ladders and stairs; walking, kneeling, standing, squatting, twisting, and bending for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Experience with hand and power tools.
- Ability to clean or prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
- Ability to load and unload building materials, tools, and equipment.
- Work independently and be a team player within the department and the organization.
- High degree of focus and attention to detail/strong organizational skills.
- Communicate effectively, with co-workers and various business contacts in a courteous and professional manner.
- Work completely and accurately under time constraints and deadlines.
- Work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple work assignments.
- Help promote a safe working environment by following safety procedures.
Education and Experience:
- High School or Equivalent.
- Valid Driver's License and Clean Driving Record Required.
- Must be able to pass drug screening and background check.
