Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Willingness to travel for project assignments up to two consecutive weeks.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check, DOT physical examination, and drug screen.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Flexible schedules including early mornings, evenings, weekends, overtime, and overnight travel as needed.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Assist crews with roadway construction, traffic control, pavement marking, sign installation, and other field operations.
  • Load, unload, transport, and organize materials, equipment, and tools.
  • Perform general labor duties including digging, lifting, sweeping, cleanup, and site preparation.
  • Set up and remove temporary traffic control devices, including signs, cones, barricades, and drums.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and other equipment as trained.
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and work zone safety standards.
  • Assist with equipment maintenance and inspections.
  • Work effectively as part of a team while supporting project deadlines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

The general laborer position performs a variety of labor-intensive tasks in support of traffic control, roadway construction, pavement marking, sign installation, and other roadway safety operations. The ideal candidate is dependable, enjoys working outdoors, can perform physically demanding work, and is willing to travel to support projects throughout the region.

  • Ability to safely lift and carry up to 75 pounds.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and perform repetitive physical labor throughout the workday.

  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to safety.

  • Reliable transportation to and from designated reporting locations.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Previous experience in construction, traffic control, utilities, or general labor.

  • Experience operating construction equipment or power tools.

  • Flagger certification or willingness to obtain certification.

  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is a plus but not required.


Physical Requirements


  • Frequently lift, push, pull, and carry materials weighing up to 75 pounds.

  • Work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and other environmental conditions.

  • Walk on uneven terrain and active construction sites.

  • Climb ladders and work around heavy equipment.

  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE), including a hard hat, high-visibility safety vest, eye protection, gloves, and steel-toed boots.
