Amherst Nurseries in Hadley, MA is seeking laborers to join our field crew. This part-time, seasonal-to-permanent role involves outdoor, physical work across landscapes, nurseries, and seasonal inventories. No heavy prior experience required—attitude and work ethic are valued, and valid driver’s license is preferred.

Responsibilities include lawn and landscape upkeep, planting and hardscape assistance, nursery stock care, and winter snow removal. Overtime is available during peak seasons.

Overview

We're hiring laborers to join our field crew — planting trees, building landscapes, and helping run one of the largest production nurseries in the Pioneer Valley. The work is physical, it's outdoors, and it changes with the seasons.

Experience is preferred but not required. We care much more about your attitude and work ethic. If this sounds like a good fit, we'd like to hear from you.

What You'll Do

Throughout the year, you'll work across both sides of our operation. Each day's activities will depend on the season and which projects are on the schedule:

Landscape maintenance — mowing, mulching, pruning, etc. at customer properties, taking care to deliver an exceptional work product.

Landscape construction — planting trees, shrubs, and perennials on residential, commercial, and municipal job sites. Assisting foremen on hardscape projects including patios, walkways, and retaining walls. Grading, soil prep, and finish work.

Nursery operations — fertilizing, pruning, and maintaining 20+ acres of growing stock. Digging and balling field-grown trees. Tagging inventory, loading trucks, and filling orders for landscapers and municipalities across New England.

Winter work — snow removal for commercial and residential clients, nursery pruning, equipment maintenance in our heated workshop, and preparing stock for spring.
