Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a General Laborer to support paper mill production by performing a variety of manual tasks, maintaining equipment cleanliness, and assisting machine operators within a safety-focused environment.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent and prior industrial experience, with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work 8- or 12-hour rotating shifts (nights/weekends/holidays). A commitment to safety and teamwork is essential.

Summary Description

The General Laborer is responsible for supporting the paper mill's production operations by performing a variety of manual tasks, ensuring equipment cleanliness, assisting machine operators, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. This role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and adherence to safety protocols.

Primary Accountabilities

• Assist in the overall operations of paper mill machinery and equipment under supervision.
• Load and unload raw materials and finished products.
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas, including sweeping, shoveling, and waste removal.
• Monitor production processes and report any irregularities or equipment malfunctions.
• Perform routine checks and minor maintenance tasks as directed.
• Follow all safety guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Support other team members and departments as needed to meet production goals. initiatives.

Knowledge & Skills Required

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Ability to work 8 and/or 12-hour rotating shifts & overtime including nights, weekends & holidays.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
