General Laborer - Construction
Position Summary
We are seeking a hands-on, versatile Construction Laborer to support general construction and maintenance efforts across diverse project types, including K–12 schools, higher education campuses, aviation facilities, and ground‑up builds. The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical aptitude, works well independently or within a team, and is comfortable supporting construction crews and site operations throughout various phases of development.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain construction equipment, tools, and materials to ensure optimal function and safety on site
- Perform general facility maintenance and minor-to-major building repairs as needed on active job sites
- Support preventive maintenance and inspection of temporary construction facilities (trailers, generators, etc.)
- Assist with the installation of basic electrical components, fixtures, and equipment
- Help with construction tasks related to light renovation, remodeling, and punch‑list completion
- Provide mechanical support for equipment including small tools, forklifts, and other site machinery
- Transport tools, parts, and equipment across job sites and between departments or subcontractor teams
- Source and acquire necessary materials and parts to reduce site downtime
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard‑free construction environment
- Comply with company and site‑specific safety procedures, including adherence to OSHA and company Code of Safe Work Practices
Minimum Qualifications
- 1+ years of relevant construction, facilities maintenance, or mechanical repair experience
- Basic knowledge of painting, sanding, and hand/power tool usage
- On‑the‑job training may be provided to support growth and skill development
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Familiarity with construction site operations across sectors such as K–12, higher education, aviation, and/or ground‑up projects
- Experience with light vehicle or equipment repair, including basic engine, electrical, or hydraulic troubleshooting
Skills & Competencies
- Ability to read and interpret basic technical documents, blueprints, and equipment manuals
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks across departments or trades
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel); able to document maintenance activity and report issues effectively
- Self‑motivated and adaptable to dynamic construction site environments
- Able to work independently while contributing to a larger construction team
Physical Demands / Work Environment
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, lift (up to 75 lbs), and operate tools in variable weather conditions
- Must be comfortable working in active construction zones, confined spaces, or elevated areas
- May be exposed to loud noise, dust, heavy machinery, and other standard job site hazards
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project location
- Regular use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is required
