Job summary

The H&K Group, Chalfont Quarry, is seeking an experienced Laborer to join our field team in Chalfont, PA. The role involves supporting construction activities, performing various manual tasks, and moving between duties as needed on-site.

Responsibilities include following OSHA and H&K safety policies, assisting with form work, concrete, piping, and paving tasks, and maintaining daily equipment readiness. Competitive health benefits and training opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• One month of related experience and/or training.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Mathematical skills including ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent; interpret graphs.
• Ability to understand and carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Problem solving abilities; ability to adapt to varying tasks.
• Ability to fit test and utilize appropriate PPE as needed.
• Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job).

Responsibilities

• Acquires tools needed for daily operations.
• Measures distances from grade stakes, drives stakes, and tightens lines.
• Bolts, nails, aligns, and blocks up under forms.
• Signals operators of construction equipment to ensure proper alignment and grade.
• Levels earth to finish grade specifications.
• Mixes concrete and finishes freshly poured cement.
• Positions, joins, aligns, and seals pipe sections.
• Erects scaffolding, shoring, and braces.
• Paving duties: assists with markings, grades pavement, operates plate compactor, shovels asphalt, directs traffic.
• Pipe duties: sets up daily functions, uses laser for grades, backfills with equipment, preps pipes for connections.
• Other duties as assigned

Usually performing their duties in a utility capacity, the Laborer position entails working on construction projects, often transferring from one task to another whenever the situation requires. Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs all work adhering to OSHA and H&K Safety policies.
• Acquires tools needed for daily operations
• Measures distances from grade stakes, drives stakes, and stretches tight line.
• Bolts, nails, aligns, and blocks up under forms.
• Signals operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications.
• Levels earth to fine grade specifications.
• Mixes concrete.
• Smooths and finishes freshly poured cement or concrete.
• Positions, joins, aligns, and seals pipe sections.
• Erects scaffolding, shoring, and braces.
• Paving Duties:
  • Assists with pre-run markings
  • Uses a paving lute to fine grade before roller man compacts
  • Operates vibratory plate as needed
  • Shovels asphalt as required
  • Direct traffic around work area as required
• Pipe Duties:
  • Gets tools needed for daily operations
  • Gets job set up for daily function such as setting up a pipe laser
  • Operates a Wacker and jumping jack to perform backfilling duties
  • Uses cut saws to make pipe proper length
  • Preps pipe for connection before pipe gets lowered
  • Shoots grades and checks grades using laser or conventional methods
  • Performs connection of pipe work
  • Responsible for checking for proper pipe slope
  • Preps structures for installation
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Skills, Education, and Experience
