Job summary

Fike Corporation in Blue Springs, MO is seeking a dependable General Laborer to support production operations. You will assist with stacking parts onto pallets, clean and operate machinery, and back up the saw operator as needed.

This role requires ability to lift up to 100 pounds, follow safety procedures, and adapt to a fast-paced environment. Training is provided, and benefits include PTO, medical plans, and 401(k).

Qualifications

• HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA or GED required; ability to read and follow instructions.
• Exposure to machining operations and blue prints preferred.
• Willingness to work in a production environment and follow safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Back up saw operator as needed.
• Assist in lifting and positioning materials for machines.
• Remove burrs or excess metal from machined parts.
• Clean work area, machines, tools and equipment.
• Empty trash into receptacles.
• May perform simple machine work.
• Maintain scrap bins, oils and coolants.
• May operate a forklift to move large items, pallets or bins.
• Adhere to safety practices and ISO9001 procedures.
• Follows company policies and attendance requirements.

General Laborer, Days

Fike Corporation, a rapidly growing international manufacturer of pressure relief, explosion protection, fire suppression and detection equipment, has an opportunity for a General Laborer. Fike is a privately held business located in Blue Springs, MO with over 400 employees locally & over 1,200 employees worldwide.

Job Summary:

Performs a variety of routine and repetitive tasks in support of production operations. Assists workers in stacking parts onto pallets and in cleaning and operating machinery.

Primary Responsibilities:

• 1. Responsible for backing up saw operator.


• 2. Helps lift and position materials in setting up machines.


• 3. Removes burrs or excess metal from machined parts.


• 4. Cleans work area, machines, tools, and equipment.


• 5. Empties trash into receptacles.


• 6. May do simple machine work.


• 7. Responsible for maintaining scrap bins, oils and coolants.


• 8. May operate a forklift in moving large items, pallets or bins.


• 9. Adheres to all safety practices and procedures.


• 10. Follows procedures as defined by Fike policies, procedures and ISO9001 requirements.

Performs related duties as assigned. Regular and consistent attendance is required.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; use hand to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds using appropriate moving devices. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee is occasionally exposed to guarded moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Job Qualifications:

REQUIRED: High School Diploma or a General Educational Development Diploma (GED). Ability to read and follow instructions.

PREFERRED: Exposure to machining operations and blue prints.
