Job summary

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and complex assigned tasks in one section of the laboratory, including tasks of moderate to high complexity.
• Performs routine and complex assigned tasks in additional sections of the laboratory, including tasks of moderate to high complexity with section head supervision.
• Provides appropriate services to meet the needs of the department’s customers as requested including but not limited to the provision of accurate and timely information.
• Assists with the maintenance of equipment, including scheduled, preventative and diagnostic maintenance as outlined in laboratory procedure and manufacturer user manuals.
• Assists in the reporting of Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance activities as determined by JMH, including JMH operations improvement.
• Assists with the performance of quality control procedures, documents results, and investigates and resolves abnormal results, with appropriate supervisory notification of activity.
• M akes appropriate suggestions to improve productivity and enhance expense reduction to the Section Head; uses laboratory supplies responsibly.
• Provides technical guidance for customers as it relates to laboratory procedures and operations.
• Participates in professional activities and continuing education to maintain professional expertise.
• Clearly communicates and continuously supports the Mission and Values of Johnson Memorial Health.
• Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and JMH policies and procedures including Blood and Body Substance Precautions.
• Performs additional duties as required which relate to the function of the hospital.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry or other physical sciences required. Preferred one year experience in a laboratory environment.

SCHEDULE:

Monday - Friday 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
On days with busy surgery schedule, hours may be shifted to 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
80 hour per bi-weekly pay period.
