Job summary

Pure Flavor Farms LP is seeking a General Laborer to support crop health and harvest activities in our Rochelle greenhouse operations. You will work as part of a small team, perform routine tasks, and help maintain food safety and packing standards.

The role requires ability to stand, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in hot/humid conditions with occasional cold-packhouse exposure. Training and safety guidelines are provided; prior greenhouse experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Secondary school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• No previous experience required; general understanding of greenhouse operations preferred.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team.
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate keen attention to detail.
• Ability to work at heights up to 15 feet.

Responsibilities

• Maintain crop health and harvest produce ready for market.
• Harvest vegetables using hand tools like shears and knives.
• Inspect crop quality and report issues to supervisors.

Job Summary

The General Labor role is responsible for activities that maintain a healthy crop and for harvesting produce that is ready for market.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Crop maintenance; winding, suckering, de-leafing, lowering and pruning
• Harvest vegetables; using hand tools such as shears and knives
• Inspect crop quality; monitor for issues such as diseases, insect pests; report to personnel with authority
• May assist with coordinating day-to-day activities, including guiding peers, organizing workflow, and serving as a communication link within the team under the guidance and direction of management
• Communicate frequently with Labor Supervisor; report quality issues, product shortages, or damage to packaging and materials
• Responsible for the careful handling of produce to prevent bruising or damage; ensure quality, food safety, and packing standards are met
• May be assigned additional responsibilities based on operational needs, including equipment operation (e.g., forklift, tugger), product and material handling, and maintaining cleanliness and sanitation within the greenhouse environment
• Maintain a clean work area throughout the shift, ensuring all equipment and areas are properly sanitized; report damages or mechanical issues to personnel with authority
• Comply with SOPs, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Food Safety, Health and Safety, and company policies and procedures; ensure standards consistently meet expectations
• Other core expectations as defined by the company

Working Conditions

• Hours of work may vary depending on business needs.; flexibility required
• This role operates in a hot, humid environment, where temperatures range from 90-100°F or more depending on the time of year. Occasional work within a refrigerated packhouse, where temperatures range from 45-55°F. The noise level in the work environment can be loud due to packaging machinery, and forklift truck operation
• Role frequently requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, use hands to handle or feel product or packaging, and reach with hands as well as visual requirements
• The position requires the ability to regularly lift to 30-pounds, occasionally up to 50-pounds
• This role regularly requires the employee to work at height up to 15 feet using a platform lifting device or scissor lift

This position offers a salary range of $19.57/hourly USD , with final compensation varying based on experience, skills, internal equity, and location. In addition Pure Flavor offers a competitive total rewards package, including company-paid benefits, 401K matching, and paid time off.
