Job summary

Coastal Marine Services, Inc. is seeking a General Laborer to support interior decking, painting and insulation projects in Norfolk, VA. The role involves performing a variety of manual labor, housekeeping, material delivery, and fire watch duties on U.S. Navy shore facilities, vessels, and submarines.

Experience in ship repair is helpful, a clean record is required and DBIDS badge is obtainable. Must be able to operate various hand and power tools and follow MSDS safety procedures on site.

Qualifications

• No formal training is needed, however experience in ship repair is helpful.
• Must have a clean record and be able to obtain a DBIDS badge.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Responsibilities

Summary

Performs variety of general work on U.S. Navy shore facilities, waterborne vessels, surface ships and/or submarines. Tasks will be assigned by Project Manager

Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of general manual labor tasks including, but not limited to, lifting and moving materials, loading and unloading vehicles, surface preparation work, and other activities in a helping or assisting;
• Perform housekeeping efforts to maintain cleanliness of the worksite
• Delivers materials as required
• Performs duties as Fire Watch
• Participates in special projects as required.

Language Ability

Education / Experience

Must have a clean record and be able to obtain a DBIDS (Gov't issued badge for Naval base use)

Equipment

Need General Hand Tools, but must be able to operate Power tools such as Jack Hammers, Needle Guns, Hand Sanders, etc..

Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities

Must be able to read and understand material safety data sheets (MSDS).

Able to follow safety procedures.

Job Starts @ $18-20/Hour with depending on qualifications.
