Job summary

Valmont Industries in Columbus, NE is seeking a reliable Material Handler to receive, issue, and move materials safely and efficiently on a fast-paced shop floor. You will document movements, support production, and operate forklifts and an overhead crane with a strong emphasis on safety and accuracy.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or GED and at least one year in manufacturing; forklift and crane certification is required.

Qualifications

• Must be forklift and crane certified or able to obtain certification.
• Ability to work in a high volume, fast-paced environment.
• Ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner.
• Must have a high awareness for safety at all times.
• Ability to work through problems with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work timely and expeditiously to deliver an on-time result without errors.
• One year of experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
• Ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions.
• Ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues.
• Demonstrates passion and integrity with drive to excel and deliver results.

Responsibilities

• Receive, issue, and physically move Valmont materials and products in a safe and efficient manner.
• Provide accurate and timely documentation of material and product movement.
• Provide accurate and timely distribution of materials to production to meet production needs.
• Operate forklifts and overhead crane.
• Interpret production plans and shipping orders to provide the required levels of material handling and shipping.
• Count material inventory and reconcile inventory discrepancies.
• Demonstrate excellent safety practices conforming to Valmont policies.

How you will contribute

• Receive, issue, and physically move Valmont materials and products in a safe and efficient manner

• Operate various types of material handling equipment including forklifts and overhead crane
• Interpret production plans and shipping orders to provide the require levels of material handling and shipping
• Count material inventory and reconcile inventory cycle discrepancies
• Demonstrate excellent safety practices and behaviors which conform to all Valmont safety policies and procedures

What it takes

• Must be able to be forklift and crane certified
• The ability to work in a high volume, fast paced environment
• The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
• Must have a high awareness for safety at all times
• The ability to work through problems with minimum amount of assistance from the leadperson or supervisor
• The ability to work timely and expeditiously to deliver an on-time result without errors

Highly qualified candidates will also possess:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• One year of previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
• The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
• The ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues
