Job summary

West Liberty Foods in West Liberty, Iowa is hiring General Labor on 2nd shift. The role involves a variety of manual or tool-assisted, repetitive tasks to produce raw and ready-to-eat products in several departments such as Evisceration, Deboning, Packaging and Raw Pack.

No prior experience is required; applicants must be 18+, authorized to work in the United States, and able to stand for long periods. The base hourly wage is $17.80 with a $1.50 shift premium, plus overtime opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Evisceration: clean and eviscerate turkey using knives, scissors, and vacuum.
• Deboning/Trim: cut or trim meat from the carcass with knives and tools.
• Packaging: package, label, and box meat portions for shipment.
• Raw Pack/Binning: box raw meat and move/label bins; rotate tasks.
• Set Up: prepare production lines after sanitation; rotate to tasks.

Base Hourly Wage: $17.80 per hour

Job Summary

General Labor positions include a variety of manual or tool‑assisted, repetitive tasks to produce raw and ready‑to‑eat products. Applicants for General Labor positions may be offered roles in one of the following key areas:

Key Responsibilities by Department

Evisceration

• Perform manual repetitive tasks to clean and eviscerate (remove the organs of) recently harvested turkey to prepare for processing using knives, scissors, and vacuum.
• Train and rotate to perform multiple tasks within the department.

Deboning / Trim

• Perform manual repetitive tasks to cut or trim meat from the carcass in preparation for processing using knives and other tools.
• Train and rotate to perform multiple tasks within the department.

Packaging

• Perform manual repetitive tasks to place sliced meat into package molds.
• Perform manual repetitive tasks to label packages.
• Perform manual repetitive tasks to place packages of product into boxes.
• Perform manual repetitive tasks to place boxes onto pallets.
• Place logs of meat into containers for shipping to other facilities.
• Train and rotate to perform multiple tasks within the department.

Raw Pack / Binning

• Boxing raw meat into boxes.
• Move tanks using a pallet jack.
• Ensure proper labeling of bins is completed.
• Document correct handoff to the proper team members.
• Train and rotate to perform multiple tasks within the department.

Set Up

• Set up production after sanitation has completed.
• Train and rotate to perform multiple tasks within the department.

Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

• Experience: No previous experience is necessary. Experience in food manufacturing or processing is a plus.
• Age: Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
• Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States; no sponsorships are available.
• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Physical Abilities:
• Ability to stand for long periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, including above the head and below the waist.
• Must be able to work at line speed with the ability to make coordinated hand and finger movements.
• Environmental: Ability to work in varying temperature conditions.
• Flexibility: Must be able to work overtime and/or weekends as needed. Ability to adjust quickly to changing demands.
• Compliance: Must practice good personal hygiene. Candidates must successfully pass post‑offer/pre‑employment drug test, background screen, and physical.
