Job summary

Saputo is hiring an entry-level plant production associate in California. The role involves opening bulk cheese, placing cheese on the line, operating cheese cutters and shredders, packaging products, and stacking cases on pallets.

Candidates should be able to work in a team, multi-task, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, basic math and computer skills, and good English communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent or 1 year demonstrated work experience.
• Prior experience in food manufacturing or warehousing is preferred.
• Good math skills and basic computer/data-entry abilities.
• SAP experience is a plus; familiarity with SAP systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication in English.

Responsibilities

• Operates infeed cheese to cutting or shredding department.
• Feed cheese to conveyor belt to scale and wrapper.
• Fill cases with packages by count or weight and seal.
• Stack cases on pallets following product templates.
• Clean and sanitize production equipment after use.
• Operate dry ingredient dispensers as needed.
• Perform minor maintenance in the cheese area.
• Report daily production on required forms.
• Maintain sanitation and comply with quality systems.

This role opens bulk cheese, places cheese on the line, operates cheese cutters and shredders. Packs cases with finished product, and stacks completed cases on pallets, rotating hourly.

Position Responsibilities

• Operates infeed cheese to cheese cutting or shredding department
• Manually feed cheese to conveyor belt to scale and wrapper.
• Fill cases with good packages, either by count or weight, and put filled cases into carton sealers. (6lb, 20lb, 30lb & 40lbs cases).
• Stack completed cases on pallet, making sure current pallet configuration and count as stated on the product template.
• Clean and sanitize production equipment.
• Fill/operate dry ingredient dispensers as needed.
• Perform minor maintenance tasks on cheese portioning/shredding department.
• Change tape in carton sealers.
• Report daily production on required forms.
• Return rejected packages from the casing area to packing area, open rejected packages on to line or into trim barrel.
• Maintain good sanitation and housekeeping practices. Complies all quality system and regulatory requirements.
• Works in a safe and efficient manner.
• Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
• May perform other job duties as required.

Job requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent or (1)-year demonstrated work experience.
• Previous experience in food manufacturing, warehousing, dairy food manufacturing experience preferred.
• Good math skills.
• Proficient computer skills, software and data entry, SAP a plus.
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, in English.
• Good attendance is a must

Pay Range

Pay Range: $26.31 - $31.05
