Job summary

The Baillie Group's Owego, NY facility is hiring for a Material Handler / General Laborer. This full-time role offers a 2nd shift from 7pm to 5:30am with a $17 per hour pay plus a $1 shift differential and a four-day work week.

As a member of a world-class hardwood lumber manufacturer, you will handle bundles, ensure edges are knot-free, and support forklift operations while meeting safety and quality standards. Prior warehouse or general labor experience is helpful, and training is provided.

Qualifications

• Be 18 years of age or older.
• Detail oriented.
• Able to lift 50+ lbs continuously.
• Self-motivated, organized and able to multi-task.
• Great attitude.
• Standing for long periods of time, bending and stooping.

Responsibilities

• Push out finished bundles for forklift removal.
• Build and bundle pieces square with edge boards and pipes.
• Ensure bundles are neat and ready for transport.
• Assist with palletizing and loading as part of warehouse flow.

Material Handler Details

• Top, bottom and outside pieces will be the longest
• All edges will be free of knots, wane, and other defects
• Bundle must be square with edge boards against the pipes of the cart
• Build each bundle until full and finish off with a nice top layer
• Push out finished bundle for forklift to remove

Material Handler Qualifications

• Be 18 years of age or older
• Detail oriented
• Able to lift 50+ lbs continuously
• Self-motivated, organized and able to multi-task
• Great attitude
• Standing for long periods of time, bending and stooping

Nice to Have Skills

• Previous experience as a warehouse worker preferred
• Basic math skills (add/subtract/multiply/divide, read a measuring tape, calipers, digital indicators)
• High School degree preferred, but not required
