Job summary

UFP Industries in State College, PA seeks a general laborer to safely handle lumber products, verify material against customer requirements, and assist in moving and stacking materials.

You will perform labeling, tagging, inventory tasks, operate a staple gun, band and secure materials, and participate in safety and CI programs. No formal degree required; 18+ and manufacturing or lumber experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Manufacturing or lumber experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of basic math preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Move and secure lumber products and materials per instructions.
• Stack finished products according to bundle sizes or customer requirements.
• Label material by type, size, and count; apply tags.
• Use staple gun and troubleshoot equipment.
• Band and secure material, attach corner protectors and loading sticks.
• Follow stacking instructions per company policy and customer needs.
• Ensure correct quantities and labeling before leaving work area.
• Maintain inventory of tags and report discrepancies to supervisor.
• Record production on production sheets.
• Keep work area clean and organized.
• Assist with other areas by moving material and loading/unloading carts.
• Participate in safety and CI programs and meetings.
• Perform other duties as required.

Principle Duties And Responsibilities

• Moves and secures lumber products and other materials according to instructions
• Stacks finished products according to predetermined bundle sizes and/or customer requirements
• Labels material based on the following specifications: type, size, and count
• Applies individual tags to material before/after treating/production
• Uses a staple gun and troubleshoots equipment
• Bands, bundles and secures material, including attaching corner protectors and loading sticks
• Follows instructions for stacking material properly and according to company policy and customer requirements
• Ensures correct quantities and material are strapped, and labeled before leaving the work area
• Maintains accurate inventory of tags and reports any problems or discrepancies to supervisor
• Records production on production sheets
• Maintains a clean and organized work area
• Assists with other work areas by moving material, loading and unloading material carts
• Participates in safety, CI and other programs and meetings
• Performs other duties as required
