Job description

SUMMARY

Lead personnel and direct workload to achieve work standards and goals. Use various painting techniques, including but not limited to powder coat, wet paint spraying, Cerakote, hydro dip, and other techniques on various materials. Material preparation such as abrasive blasting, cleaning, dipping, masking, among others, is required.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following, however, other duties may apply)

  • Follow all principles and practices of powder coating application.
  • Operate all coating equipment including guns, hoppers, and booth collection systems.
  • Observe machine gauges and equipment operation to detect defects.
  • Determine paint flow, viscosity, and coating quality by performing visual inspections or using viscometers.
  • Knowledge of thermosetting resin coatings, wash, and pretreatments.
  • Ensure that all components are produced/coated efficiently and meet company quality and on-time delivery goals.
  • Ensure personnel work safely, work areas are clean, and all policies and procedures are followed.
  • Assist manager with quotations, promotion, and marketing to commercial and retail customers.
  • Maintain good knowledge of the mechanics, cleaning, and repair of painting equipment.
  • Provide assistance and technical training to employees as needed.
  • Evaluate procedures and recommend modifications for efficiency.
  • Oversee packaging techniques to prevent damage during transportation.
  • Provide courteous and professional service to co-workers, customers, vendors, and drivers.
  • Communicate with the manager regarding issues needing immediate attention, assist in problem-solving, and provide feedback.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Direct workload and assist coating specialists. No hiring or firing responsibilities, but can issue verbal warnings. Promote a team environment and communicate with the manager on personnel issues and reviews.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily.
  • Excellent conceptual, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and time management skills.
  • Proficient in computer skills including data entry, barcode scanning, and Microsoft Office.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Understanding of basic mechanical and manufacturing techniques.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in the powder coating industry or related training, or equivalent education and experience.
