Job summary

VCU Health System seeks a General Internist to join an outstanding group of clinician educators within the Division of General Internal Medicine. The position offers opportunities for outpatient and inpatient clinical care, plus significant teaching of residents and students.

Qualifications

• Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine.
• Direct experience managing complex inpatients.
• Interest in teaching and growth in an academic setting.
• Interest in furthering the academic mission of the Division.
• Demonstrated ability to provide effective communication, both verbal and written.
• Commitment to professionalism and civility with a diverse faculty, staff and students.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct clinical care to ambulatory patients.
• Provide direct clinical care to hospitalized patients (inpatient duties by mutual agreement).
• Participate in night and weekend on-call duties (telephone only).
• Supervise and teach housestaff and learners in outpatient and inpatient settings.
• Engage in clinical and educational research as interests and funding permit.
