Title of Position
Reporting to the Chief Engineer/Associate Director, the General Foreperson/Steam-Refrigeration Eng (L) supervises and provides advanced-level work related to the boilers, steam plant, refrigeration & air conditioning systems, and equipment.
This position requires work hours Tuesday to Saturday, 6:00 am -2:30 pm
Essential Functions
Acts as a resource to HVAC staff and provides technical guidance, mentoring, and support.
Operates and maintains high-pressure/low-pressure boilers and associated HVAC systems and equipment.
Follows OEM schedules, logs work accomplished, and interacts with zone-based personnel to ascertain problems and locations of needed work.
Monitors BMS daily. Interacts with Watch Stationary Engineers to resolve BMS issues. Liaises with Automated Logic technician and other vendors weekly.
Coordinates repairs and adjustments to the BMS . Ensures the repair log for the BMS is current, and issues are resolved.
Responds to service calls and troubleshoot problems and air quality issues. Assists other mechanics on difficult tasks.
Conducts seasonal startups and changeovers.
Maintains required log Books for the central HP plant, low-pressure plants, and refrigeration systems. Ensures the log books are accurate, relevant, and legible.
Coordinates with the Zone Leaders to ensure the MERs are neat, clean, and safe. Coordinates HVAC operations with staff, completes work orders, and interacts with CMMS . Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief Engineer, Asst. Chief, or other appropriate administrator.
Prepares monthly schedules for Stationary & Watch staff. Arrange extra coverage schedules for Special events (Graduation, Jubilee, Opening, etc).

Additional Functions
Required Qualifications: Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 7 years working with steam and/or air conditioning systems.
Active NYC High-Pressure Steam Boiler Operating License.
Active NYC COQ for Refrigeration Systems Operator’s License.
EPA CFC Certification.
Valid Driver’s License.
Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Must be computer literate with a high degree of proficiency in BMS systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency and course training in Automated Logic’s WebCTRL.
