Job Description

Salary Range: $57,125 - $91,971 Salary Grade: 19 FLSA: Exempt

Purpose Of Classification

The purpose of this classification is to provide planning and logistical support to the Superintendent and management through the supervision of multiple crews responsible for construction, maintenance, and repair projects for County streets, storm drainage, water and sewer facilities and systems, and solid waste collections, processing, and disposal functions.

Essential Functions

• Supervises, directs, and evaluates staff; develops work schedules; reviews timesheets; handles employee concerns; conducts performance appraisals; acts as liaison between staff and management; trains staff in operations, policies, and procedures.
• Organizes, prioritizes, and assigns work; schedules work activities; ensures crews have resources; monitors work progress; inspects completed work; reports to management.
• Plans and schedules crew activities; assigns personnel; coordinates with other crews, contractors, and agencies; estimates time and costs; plans material support.
• Provides technical expertise; analyzes and responds to complex situations; troubleshoots mechanical problems.
• Coordinates repair and maintenance of facilities, vehicles, and equipment; conducts safety meetings.
• Monitors work for safety compliance; handles customer complaints; reviews construction drawings.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; six years of experience in infrastructure construction and maintenance, including two years as a crew supervisor, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Department Specific Desires

• Traffic Engineering, Signal maintenance experience needed.
• Vehicle maintenance shop, mechanic experience needed.

Licenses and Certifications

Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia commercial driver’s license; additional licenses such as Wastewater Collection, Water Distribution, SWANA, or Georgia Landfill certification may be required.
