Job summary

H2ajobs in Crowley, LA is seeking general farmhands for crawfish and rice crop operations. Duties include tractor driving, field preparation, water maintenance, fertilizing, planting and harvesting. Responsibilities extend to equipment repair, load/unload tasks, and trap maintenance for crawfish.

On-site housing and meals are provided; transportation paid after half the contract. Drug tests may be required; US work eligibility is mandatory.

Qualifications

• 3 months experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Drive tractor and perform field prep and water maintenance.
• Fertilize, plant, and harvest crops as directed.
• Weed with shovel/hoe and apply spot treatments.
• Repair and maintain equipment, farm, field, levees, roads, and shop.
• Load and unload trucks; assist with crawfish processing and traps.

Job description

General farmhands needed for crawfish and rice crop. Job duties include tractor driving, field preparation, water maintenance, fertilizing, plant, harvest of crops. Field preparation includes manual shovel work & hoeing of weeds, spot spraying treatments. Help repair & maintain equipment, farm, field, levees, roads, and shop. Load & unload trucks. Crawfishing involves manually cutting up of fish bait, bait, & check traps. Grade & wash crawfish for shipment, make & repair traps as needed. The worker(s) may be requested but not required to work more than 7 hours per day and/or the Sabbath depending upon the conditions at the worksite, weather, and maturity of the crop. Housing provided on the premises at no cost. Tools, supplies & equipment provided at no cost. Transportation and subsistence expenses to the worksite will be paid by the employer upon completion of 50% of the work contract. Employees may make above hourly wage and/or receive bonuses based on work performance and experience, may be subject to random drug screen paid by the employer upon hire or if suspicions arise - this is a drug free work zone. Must have legal authority to work within the United States.

Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)

Meals: Employer will provide cooking and kitchen facilities, housing, housing utilities, as well as transportation to assure workers access to stores where they can purchase groceries and other necessary items.

Transport: The employer will provide or pay for charter bus services or other modes of transportation to groups of H-2A or U.S. workers, or permit workers to select any means of transportation they choose and reimburse workers at no less than the most economical and reasonable common carrier transportation charges for the distances involved to and from the place of employment.

Workers may be required to take random, post accident, and/or upon suspicion drug test, and background check post hire at no costs to worker.
