Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts is a leading California private healthcare college offering an extensive variety of nursing and allied healthcare programs.
We are currently seeking an Asynchronous Online Part-time General Education Subjects Instructor to teach one or more Health Care focused courses as part of our General Education for Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts. The Instructor is responsible for teaching online courses (no course design necessary), evaluating students, responding to emails/messages, and related tasks (e.g. documenting attendance).

- Names and contact information for 3 professional references, noting in what capacity they worked with you (e.g. supervisor, client, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree (Required)
- 18 semester credits or more in each subject you wish to teach
- A year of education-related experience, preferably online instruction
Preference is given for ability to teach multiple courses/subjects.

Instructors must have the following traits:
- Be student-centered in their philosophy and approach.
- Ability to provide instructive, substantive feedback for assignments, and authentic engagement in discussions forums with students.
- Have availability to offer same-day response times for most communications (next-day morning when received later in the business day).
- Display enthusiasm for the subject matter and for student learning in general.
- Understand the iterative process of learning, and the unique needs of adult learners.
- Be comfortable with technology and willing to learn new technology as necessary for the job.
- Excellent communication skills, especially written, to clearly communicate information while conveying a positive, encouraging tone of voice in writing
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach one or more asynchronous courses.
- Maintain accurate updated attendance and grades for all students in their courses
- Engage in substantive interaction with students through discussions and by providing instructive feedback.
- Identify and provide outreach for at-risk students
- Ensure course and program learning outcomes are delivered as defined by the pre-designed course and the syllabus
- Provide documentation of continuing professional growth in educational theory or techniques and in field; instruction in educational theory or techniques may include such things as college courses, seminars or in-service on topics such as learning theory, curriculum design, test construction, teaching methodology, or assessment techniques
- Suitably engage, serve and communicate with students to encourage their participation and learning while maintaining mutual value and respect
- Respond to student questions and concerns, and to coworker emails, on a timely basis
- Participate in ongoing professional development processes for faculty oversight and growth.
- Maintain any licenses or credentials as required by accrediting councils/agencies and regulatory bodies
Requirements:
- Master’s degree or higher in field, or a graduate degree plus 18 semester credits in subject area.
- Two years or more of experience working in the subject area
- At least a year of experience in online education
- Comfort with online learning management systems (ideally experience with Moodle)
- Strong desire to see students succeed, with experience reaching out to help struggling students.
- Excellent communication skills, especially written, to clearly communicate information while conveying a positive, encouraging tone of voice in writing.
- Ability to learn new technology quickly, both for onboarding and staying current.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent critical thinking skills.
- Comfortable with technology
