Job summary

Havasu Landing Resort and Casino is seeking a General Diesel Mechanic I to provide maintenance and repair services for boats, vehicles, and equipment with diesel and gasoline engines. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose issues, and ensure safety and reliability for guests and staff.

The role requires experience with marine diesel systems, intermediate computer skills, and a valid driver’s license.

Position Summary

Provide a full range of maintenance and mechanical repair services for Havasu Landing Resort. The Havasu Landing Diesel Mechanic I conducts general maintenance and repairs to ensure proper upkeep of all vehicles and boats, equipment, small engines such as water pumps, concrete mixers, landscape motor tools, and generators with diesel and gasoline fuel. The mechanic always provides excellent customer service to prospective and current guests and customers.

Duties and Responsibilities

• The mechanic I is responsible for general preventive maintenance on the company’s boats and vehicles.
• Perform general preventive maintenance checks taking necessary action to ensure daily operations of the vessels, pre-operation inspections, and oil changes.
• Knowledge and ability to repair gasoline or diesel‑powered engines.
• Remove pumps, generators and other engine accessories, using hand tools.
• Remove engine head and oil pan on boats and vehicles to dismantle engine.
• Remove covers of gear and clutch units or remove entire assemblies as instructed.
• Wash and clean disassembled parts.
• Replace and adjust major drive train assemblies and components.
• Repair electrical automotive equipment such as installing batteries, terminals, lights, starters, modules, and alternators.
• Order all relevant spare parts to ensure adequate stock and be responsible for the orderly storage and recording of all those parts.
• Willingness to assist in all duties of the maintenance department including but not limited to landscaping, building projects, moving trailers (fifth wheel) and regular vehicle maintenance.
• Use test devices, engine analyzers, gauges of various types, and other equipment.
• Perform diagnostic tests to locate malfunctioning systems.
• Assist in the swapping out of engines, the reassembly of repaired engines and will assist with the testing of motors.
• Available when called for emergency work should one of the Passenger Ferry Boats require repair.
• Able to perform any and all other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Must be age 18 or older and have a current driver’s license.
• Education and/or training in engineering, mechanical or electrical or equivalent experience preferred.
• Must have intermediate computer skills.
• Specialize in Marine diesel maintenance, minimum two years’ experience.
