Position Title: General Dentist

Position Classification: Hourly / Non-Exempt

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Work Schedule: 32 hours per week (occasional overtime may be required)

Position Overview

The role of General Dentist serves as a vital partner in advancing our mission to provide accessible, high-quality dental care to the diverse communities we serve. Clinical expertise, cultural sensitivity, and patient advocacy are central to reducing health disparities and promoting long-term wellness. By delivering compassionate treatment, educating patients on preventive practices, and collaborating closely with team members, this role helps build a healthier community and ensure that every patient receives dignified, comprehensive care.

Qualifications

  • DDS, DMD or DD degree from an accredited dental school.
  • Current and unrestricted license to practice dentistry, required by start date.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient education skills.
  • Cultural competence and responsiveness to a wide range of diverse communities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to continuing education and professional development.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Patient Care:
  • Perform comprehensive dental examinations, diagnose oral diseases and conditions.
  • Provide preventive care, routine cleanings, fillings, tooth extractions, and limited root canal treatments.
  • Patient Education:
  • Educate patients (and parents/guardians when applicable) on proper oral hygiene, treatment options, and preventive dental care practices.
  • Provide clear instructions for post-treatment care and answer patient questions regarding oral health.
  • Treatment Planning:
  • Develop and communicate individualized treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with other dental and clinical staff to ensure coordinated, high-quality care.
  • Medication and Recordkeeping:
  • Prescribe medications when appropriate and document all prescriptions accurately.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate patient records, including diagnoses, treatment plans, and consultations.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
  • Adhere to infection control protocols, HIPAA regulations, and all applicable federal, state, and organizational policies.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, and work for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity and strength sufficient to operate dental instruments and equipment.
  • Occasional lifting of supplies and small equipment may be required.
