Job description

SUMMARY

Keep buildings in clean and orderly condition. Perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, hallways, and stairs, shampooing rugs, and washing walls and glass. Duties may include tending furnace and boiler, performing routine maintenance activities, notifying management of need for repairs, and cleaning snow or debris from sidewalks.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Monitor building security and safety by performing tasks such as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliances to prevent hazards.
2. Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
3. Gather and empty trash.
4. Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
5. Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and equipment to prevent damage.
6. Prepare cleaning solutions by mixing water and detergents or acids according to specifications.
7. Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
8. Notify management about major repairs or system upgrades needed.
9. Requisition supplies and equipment for cleaning and maintenance.
10. Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using appropriate cleaners and tools.
11. Observe and comply with safety rules, including wearing personal safety equipment.
12. Perform other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent preferred, with previous experience in cleaning or related fields. Knowledge of cleaning concepts, practices, and procedures. Ability to follow instructions and guidelines. Works under supervision and reports to a supervisor or manager.
