Job Summary
General Counsel is the company's most senior legal leader and strategic partner to C‑Suite, establishing the legal vision and translating it into strategies that protect the company and accelerate growth.
Responsibilities
- Serve as strategic counsel to Leadership and C‑Suite on legal and regulatory developments that shape energy solutions' business.
- Partner with the executive team to identify, prioritize, and manage enterprise legal risk, delivering proactive, business‑forward advice.
- Evaluate contracts prior to execution, identify legal and commercial risk, negotiate favorable terms, and ensure compliance with laws, regulations and company policies.
- Anticipate legal and commercial risks in new business lines and design contract structures and templates that enable growth while protecting the company.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Legal, Contracts, and Compliance team, fostering a collaborative, high‑performing function aligned to strategic priorities.
- Determine and execute litigation and dispute resolution strategy, directing outside counsel and owning case outcomes on behalf of the company.
- Select and manage outside counsel to achieve high‑quality results efficiently and on budget.
Qualifications
- JD from an accredited law school.
- 10+ years of legal experience.
- In‑depth experience with contract negotiations and commercial law.
- Legal leadership experience overseeing attorneys, paralegals, and contracts professionals.
- Proven track record building and mentoring a high‑performing legal team.
- Executive presence and ability to communicate credibly with Board, C‑Suite, regulators, and staff at all levels.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication, negotiation and organizational skills.
- Strong legal writing, project management and record‑keeping skills.
- Extensive experience using Microsoft Office and a contract management platform.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and independently.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $195,000–$270,000, target compensation $195,000–$232,000, plus bonus based on experience. Includes a generous retirement package and benefits such as medical, dental and vision insurance, pre‑tax contribution plans, and an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
