Job summary

The State of Georgia's OFTC invites applications for a General Core Instructor - English. You will provide instruction to OFTC students in English courses, develop program outlines, and prepare lesson plans for credited technical courses.

Duties include evaluating student progress, maintaining documentation, meeting safety standards, and supporting recruitment, retention, and placement efforts. The position may require day and evening hours and travel to satellite locations.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in English or related field with at least 18 graduate hours in English.
• Experience as an instructor/teacher in a secondary or postsecondary setting is preferred.

Job Description:

• Duties: Under general supervision, will provide instruction to OFTC students in English courses. Develops program and course outlines, goals and objectives; Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited technical/occupational courses; Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives; Requests and maintains supplies and equipment and prepares required budget requests; Maintains program certification requirements, as appropriate; Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports; Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area; Meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students’ instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of the students; Assists with recruitment, retention and job placement efforts. Position involve day and evening hours and may require travel to satellite locations.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in English or a related field with at least 18 graduate hours in English.

Competencies:

• Work experience must include the competencies, skills and knowledge levels required for the subject matter being taught for learning support (remedial) and general education areas. Experience as an instructor/teacher in a secondary or postsecondary setting is preferred.
