Job summary

DCC invites applications for an Unclassified - Tutor in General Biology, Cell Biology, and Microbiology within Academic Affairs. This role supports student learning and reinforces course concepts.

Responsibilities include one-on-one or small-group tutoring, reviewing objectives, distributing study materials, providing basic technical help in the lab, proctoring exams, and upholding lab rules and safety; background screen required.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or higher with at least 18 biology course hours.
• Minimum one year of general office experience or tutoring in college.
• Preferred: biology or related field degree.
• Preferred: one year tutoring/teaching in college.
• Passing pre-employment background screen required.

• Provide academic assistance to students individually or in small groups to enhance student learning without compromising the quality of the student learning experience.
• Review concepts and learning objectives for courses taught in General Biology, Cell Biology, and Microbiology, specific to the subject area, to be able to assist students with course content.
• Assist students with understanding concepts presented in the classroom.
• Distribute learning materials to supplement lessons presented in class (worksheets, study guides, test/exam reviews, etc.)
• Provide basic technical support to students using the lab computers.
• Communicate services to students and staff
• Assist in carrying out the resource lab’s rules and guidelines
• Maintain the learning environment in a safe, clean, and orderly condition
• Perform other duties related to the School of Stem as assigned.
• Proctor exams as needed.

Required Education:

Associate’s Degree or higher with a minimum of 18 Hours of College Level-Biology courses.

Required Experience:

Minimum of one year of general office experience or tutoring/teaching in a college setting.

Preferred Education:

Associate’s Degree or higher in Biology or related field

Preferred Experience:

Minimum of one year of tutoring/teaching in a college setting.
