Moraine Valley Community College is seeking a part-time Tutor- Math & Science with a focus on Biology to support students at the Main Campus. The tutor will provide one-to-one and small-group tutoring and contribute to CRLA-aligned tutoring philosophy.
Minimum education is an Associate degree, with preference for Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees. In-person tutoring is typically 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. also available; position may continue across semesters.

Main Campus
Support the goals and mission of the college; provide quality one-to-one and small group tutoring to students. Follow guidelines and current tutoring philosophy including the pursuit of CRLA certification. Communicate with staff and coordinator/manager. Conduct small workshops as needed; audit classes as needed. Assist greeter with duties including scheduling and data collection.
Minimum of an Associate’s degree required. Bachelor’s degree, or Master’s degree preferred. Teaching or tutoring experience preferred.
Specialty in Biology 100 -200 level; knowledge of Anatomy & Physiology (ability to teach BIO 181 & 182) required, Chemistry 100 -200 level, Math 100 – 200 level all a plus.
Tutors must be sensitive to the needs of students at all levels. Being able to coordinate efforts with other tutors/staff is a must, along with having an excellent work ethic. Tutors must be willing to work in-person via college guidelines, and online tutoring skills are expected. Specialty in Biology needed, along with some knowledge of A & P, Chemistry preferred; ability to coordinate efforts with specialists and faculty.
Part Time
Flexible hours; for in-person tutoring, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. generally; 3 pm to 7 pm available as well. Availability requests may change from semester to semester. Position may continue on from semester to semester.
$15.00 (AAS) $16.00 (Bachelors level) or $17.00 (Masters level)
