OSF HealthCare is seeking a General Cardiologist for its Cardiovascular Institute. The role involves patient care, teaching future Cardiologists, and collaboration with local hospitals. The position offers competitive salary, benefits, and a supportive community in Peoria, Illinois.
OSF Healthcare’s Cardiovascular Institute, comprising over 40 Cardiologists, serves the central Midwest and is seeking to add a General Cardiologist to their expanding practice.
The ideal candidate will have an academic background in Cardiovascular Disease and enjoy teaching future Cardiologists.
The OSF Cardiovascular Service Line collaborates with 17 area hospitals and 9 clinics to provide comprehensive prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of heart disease, including CV surgery, MCS, Transplant, Aortic Center, Structural Heart, Advanced HF, Cardio One, and Cardio OB, with over 300 STEMI cases annually.
This position involves coverage at OSF Saint Francis Heart Hospital, which has over 30 years of experience utilizing advanced technologies and techniques. The total patient catchment area is 1.2 million, with the institution interpreting more than 15,000 echoes and 4,500 stress tests annually. OSF owns and operates its own helicopter services.
The role includes involvement in the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria Cardiology Fellowship and Internal Medicine Residency programs.
Call duties are 1-2 weeknights per month (Monday through Thursday) and 8-9 weekends per year.
The full-time clinical base salary range for this position is $530,000–$582,082. This range is an estimate and may be influenced by factors such as experience, community needs, and additional compensation components like bonuses or incentives.

With 642 beds, OSF Saint Francis Medical Center is Illinois’ fourth-largest hospital, serving as a Level I Trauma Center and the only one in north-central Illinois. It is affiliated with the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria and hosts Children’s Hospital of Illinois and the Illinois Neurological Institute. Since 2004, it has held Magnet Status for nursing excellence.
Required: Doctorate degree, medical license in current state, board certification or eligibility in appropriate specialty, eligibility for Medicare/Medicaid, malpractice coverage, DEA license if prescribing narcotics.
Preferred: Ability to provide patient-centered care aligned with patient goals and needs.
