Our Mission:

At General Motors, our product teams are redefining mobility. Through a human-centered design process, we create vehicles and experiences that are designed not just to be seen, but to be felt. We’re turning today’s impossible into tomorrow’s standard —from breakthrough hardware and battery systems to intuitive design, intelligent software, and next‑generation safety and entertainment features. Every day, our products move millions of people as we aim to make driving safer, smarter, and more connected, shaping the future of transportation on a global scale.

The Role:

As a General Assembly Technical Leader (Flawless Launch), you will lead the design and standardization of cutting-edge Bill of Equipment (BoE) that transforms how we build vehicles. This role is ideal for a highly technical, hands‑on innovator who thrives in ambiguity and is passionate about solving complex manufacturing challenges. You will play a key role in advancing our BoE capabilities and making sure our systems are at the forefront of the industry.

  • Lead Bill of Equipment (BoE): Direct the design, development and continuous improvement of Bill of Equipment (BoE) in General Assembly. Develop strategies to standardize equipment to meet future product requirements. Monitor expenditures for processes and/or equipment, while continuously focusing on total enterprise cost‑saving opportunities.
  • Benchmarking: Benchmark world‑class processes and equipment, incorporate lessons learned and lead global expert team meetings. Participate in feasibility studies and prototyping to explore new technologies and methodologies.
  • Manufacturing Requirements (MRs): Develop process manufacturing requirements (MRs) and automation enablers for trim, chassis, or final systems in General Assembly.
  • Automation Strategy: Lead the development and deployment of scalable automation solutions that improve safety, quality, ergonomics, throughput, flexibility, and equipment reliability. Evaluate emerging automation technologies, including robotics, vision systems, error‑proofing, data collection, and digital manufacturing tools. Drive standardized General Assembly equipment and processes while balancing technical feasibility, total cost, maintainability, and future product requirements.
  • Collaborate Cross‑Functionally: Partner with internal teams and external suppliers to align on technical requirements, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Mentor & Influence: Guide execution and plant engineers and influence broader functional areas through technical leadership.
  • Ensure Compliance: Uphold safety standards, engineering best practices and regulatory requirements throughout all tools, equipment, and automation initiatives.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering with a focus on machinery and equipment, tools and automation.
  • 3+ years manufacturing execution launch experience
  • Understanding of machinery and equipment and tool design, and/or automation processing.
  • Deep understanding of general assembly processes and automation integration.
  • Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and compliance.
  • Proven ability to independently manage complex projects.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to define and document manufacturing requirements, processes, and automation enablers
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
  • Masters degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Experience in fast‑paced, high‑throughput environments with a focus on system reliability and maintainability.
  • 3+ years in a supervisory or technical leadership role.
  • Familiarity with DFSS, DFMEA, & PFMEA.
  • Background in project and/or construction management.
  • Proficient in data analysis to drive continuous improvement.
Benefits:
