Job summary

Jobtailor in Massachusetts is seeking an experienced property claims adjuster to manage a portfolio of residential property claims from investigation through settlement. The role involves on-site inspections, damage assessment, and negotiation with policyholders and other stakeholders.

You will collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure timely, compliant resolutions while mentoring junior staff and contributing to process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 4 years of property claims adjusting experience handling residential property losses.
• Experience managing moderate to complex homeowners' property claims from investigation through settlement.
• Strong investigative, analytical, and negotiation skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to build trust with customers under stress.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of moderate to high‑exposure and complex property claims from assignment through final resolution.
• Investigate losses, gather facts, evaluate damages, and determine coverage per policy provisions and regs.
• Conduct on‑site inspections, structure evaluations, and property assessments.
• Prepare accurate damage estimates and evaluate repair costs.
• Negotiate settlements with policyholders, contractors, restoration providers, attorneys, and other stakeholders.
• Handle litigated claims and collaborate with legal partners as necessary.
• Maintain proactive communication with policyholders throughout the claim lifecycle.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure timely resolutions.
• Apply best practices and regulatory requirements to claims handling.
• Respond to CAT events and disaster-related claims as needed.
• Mentor less experienced claims professionals and identify process improvements.

• Conduct thorough on‑site inspections, structure evaluations, personal property assessments, and site analyses.
• Prepare accurate damage estimates and evaluate repair and replacement costs.
• Negotiate settlements with policyholders, public adjusters, contractors, restoration providers, attorneys, and other stakeholders.
• Handle litigated claims and collaborate with legal partners as necessary.
• Maintain proactive and professional communication with policyholders throughout the claim lifecycle.
• Partner with internal teams and external vendors to ensure timely and effective claim resolution.
• Apply property claims best practices, company guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
• Respond to catastrophe (CAT) events and assist with disaster‑related claims as needed.
• Mentor less experienced claims professionals and support knowledge‑sharing initiatives.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies.
• Maintain all required state adjuster licenses and compliance requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Insurance, Risk Management, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 4 years of property claims adjusting experience handling residential property losses.
• Equivalent combination of an Associate degree and 6+ years of relevant claims experience may be considered.
• Experience managing moderate to complex homeowners' property claims from investigation through settlement.
• Previous field adjusting experience preferred.
• Strong investigative and analytical abilities.
