UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.
In Grenada, as in most CARICOM Member States, there remains a challenge with producing and utilizing data sufficient to monitor progress on the SDGs, including Goal 5 on Gender Equality. However, Grenada has been at the forefront in the region, of addressing major gender data gaps.
The Grenada Central Statistical Office has made significant progress in strengthening the management of administrative data on VAWG across various sectors. With support from the recently concluded EU-UN-Government of Grenada Spotlight Initiative, an assessment was conducted, and preparations were made to develop a system for collecting administrative data so that laws, policies and programmes would be based on evidence and be better able to respond to the specific context and realities of women and girls, including those most marginalized, in Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
Under the overall supervision of the UN Women MCO - Caribbean Representative, with day-to-day supervision and direct reporting to the Deputy Representative; the Gender Statistics Consultant will support the development of National Guidelines on the Collection and Use of Administrative Data on VAWG.
