Job summary

Blend is seeking a Data Scientist — Applied AI & Prompt Engineering to design, build, and deploy LLM-powered solutions. You’ll work with LLMs, transformers, RAG, and AI agents, partnering with Engineering to bring prototypes to production and maintain them.

You’ll collaborate with Product and ML Ops to deliver high‑quality AI features end‑to‑end, implement guardrails, and ensure safety, cost efficiency, and scalability across cloud environments.

Qualifications

• 3 years applied ML with NLP/transformers focus.
• Hands-on with LLM-related libraries and services.
• Experience designing multi-step agents with safeguards against errors, loops, and unsafe tool use.
• ML model deployment to production (API, batch, or streaming).
• Fluency in Python, with production‑grade code practices.
• Cloud deployments (AWS/Azure/GCP) and CI/CD familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Architect and deploy production-ready AI solutions involving LLMs, transformer-based models, retrieval systems, agentic workflows, and AI agents for generative tasks and automation.
• Design prompts, workflows, and RAG pipelines to improve accuracy, cost-efficiency, latency, and safety.
• Design and build multi-step agentic systems that break down complex tasks, invoke external tools or APIs, manage state, and handle reasoning chains robustly.
• Deploy models and GenAI pipelines in production environments (API, batch, streaming), ensuring reliability and scalability.
• Build and maintain evaluation frameworks to measure grounding, factuality, latency, and cost.
• Develop and integrate guardrails (prompt-injection protections, content moderation, output validation), and safeguards for agent loops.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and ML Ops to deliver high-quality AI features end-to-end.
