Job summary

Compunnel, Inc. in Austin, TX is seeking an experienced software engineer to lead AI-assisted development in a cloud, microservices environment. You will apply GenAI tools, ensure code quality, and mentor peers across the team.

The role requires 7+ years in Java/Spring, 2+ years AI/ML deployment, 6+ years of containers/CI-CD, and strong communication to collaborate with Architects and cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Experience with GenAI coding assistants across SDLC including implementation, refactoring, tests, reviews, scripting and debugging.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of professional software engineering with Java, Spring, cloud development and high-volume Web Services.
• 2+ years of AI/ML implementation and production deployment experience.
• 6+ years of containers and microservices in the cloud, plus 6+ years CI/CD.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities; ability to guide other engineers.

Responsibilities

• Uses AI assistance for common dev tasks with clear ownership for correctness and quality.
• Applies GenAI to accelerate delivery across typical workflows and reduce context switching.
• Demonstrates familiarity with Copilot/Claude Code within IDE/CLI workflows.
• Establishes team-wide practices for effective AI-assisted development and prompt engineering.
