Job summary

Highmark Health invites rising graduate students to join the Summer 2027 Applied Gen AI/Data Scientist Graduate Internship. You will work on GenAI, LLMs, AI Agents, and related AI technologies to solve healthcare challenges and enhance member, clinician, and business experiences.

As part of the AI Services and Platforms Research & Development Team, you will gain hands-on experience building and evaluating AI solutions, with mentorship and exposure to enterprise AI strategy and healthcare

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required and a graduate degree is pursued (full- or part-time).
• Currently pursuing a Master’s or Ph.D. in a related field is preferred.
• Strong programming skills in Python are expected.

Responsibilities

• Develop GenAI-powered applications and prototypes.
• Evaluate and optimize LLM outputs.
• Research advanced AI techniques for healthcare use cases.
• Design and validate healthcare-focused AI use cases.
• Collaborate with engineering and analytics teams.
• Conduct experiments and document findings.
• Present recommendations and demonstrations to stakeholders.
