Job summary

Cognizant Technology Solutions Corporation in Charlotte, NC is seeking a GenAI and Agentic AI Architect to lead the design, architecture, and hands-on development of enterprise-grade Generative AI solutions.

You will collaborate with engineering, architecture, and business stakeholders to deliver copilots, intelligent agents, and reusable accelerators using modern LLMs, cloud-native tech, and AI-assisted software engineering practices.

Qualifications

• 18+ years of overall technology experience with hands-on software engineering, solution architecture, and cloud-native app development.
• Proven experience designing and building production-grade Generative AI solutions with leading LLMs (GPT, Claude, Gemini, Llama).
• Strong experience with Agentic AI, agent orchestration frameworks, RAG, vector databases, and context engineering.
• Hands-on experience architecting cloud-based AI solutions, including AWS Bedrock and modern cloud-native architecture patterns.
• Strong software engineering expertise with AI-assisted development and CI/CD practices.

Responsibilities

About the role

As a GenAI and Agentic AI Architect you will make an impact by architecting, designing, and developing enterprise-grade Generative AI and Agentic AI solutions that accelerate AI-first transformation.

You will work collaboratively with engineering, architecture, delivery, and business stakeholders to build scalable AI applications, copilots, intelligent agents, and reusable accelerators using modern large language models, cloud-native technologies, and AI-assisted software engineering practices.

In this role, you will:

• Lead the architecture, design, and hands‑on development of enterprise Generative AI and Agentic AI solutions.
• Architect and build scalable AI applications, copilots, intelligent agents, and reusable accelerators using modern large language models and agent orchestration frameworks.
• Design solutions leveraging Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases, prompt engineering, and context engineering to address complex enterprise use cases.
• Leverage AWS Bedrock, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, and other AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate software delivery and enhance developer productivity.
• Establish reusable AI engineering patterns and utilities that support cloud-native architecture, CI/CD practices, and enterprise software engineering standards.

What you need to have to be considered

• 18+ years of overall technology experience, with strong hands‑on expertise in software engineering, solution architecture, and cloud-native application development.
• Proven experience designing and building production-grade Generative AI solutions, including solutions using leading LLMs such as GPT, Claude, Gemini, or Llama.
• Strong experience with Agentic AI, agent orchestration frameworks, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases, prompt engineering, and context engineering.
• Hands‑on experience architecting and developing cloud-based AI solutions, including AWS Bedrock and modern cloud-native architecture patterns.
• Strong software engineering expertise with demonstrated experience applying AI‑assisted development and CI/CD practices to enterprise software delivery.

These will help you stand out

• Hands‑on experience using GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar AI‑assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity.
• Experience developing reusable GenAI accelerators, frameworks, utilities, or developer tooling for enterprise environments.
• Experience evaluating and selecting appropriate LLMs, agent frameworks, and AI architecture patterns based on enterprise use cases.
• Experience integrating Generative AI capabilities into existing enterprise platforms, applications, and engineering workflows.
• Experience contributing to or leading AI‑first transformation initiatives across complex enterprise technology environments.

Salary and Other Compensation

The annual salary for this position is between $116,100 to $180,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
