Job summary

State of South Carolina is seeking a skilled maintenance technician to perform carpentry, locksmith, fabrication and flooring tasks at McEntire Joint National Guard Base. You will support other trades, conduct repairs, and ensure safety procedures are followed.

You must read blueprints, operate basic tools, lift up to 70 lbs, and work in extreme weather. A high school diploma and related trades experience are required, with reliability and initiative.

Job description

Performs maintenance and repair tasks in such areas as carpentry, locksmith, fabrication, carpeting/tile flooring replacement and energy plant maintenance operation at McEntire Joint National Guard Base. Assists other maintenance trades with tasks. Makes emergency and general repairs and adjustments to equipment used in building and maintenance work. Conducts routine inspections to ensure employees follow proper operating, maintenance and safety procedures for routine jobs. Knowledge of safety practices relevant to the area of employment. Knowledge of tools, equipment, materials and supplies used in the designated trade. Knowledge of techniques, methods and practices used in the designated trade. Skill in the use of various trade tools and equipment. Ability to comprehend blueprints, plans and specifications. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to perform heavy manual labor. Ability to perform arithmetic. Ability to communicate effectively.
