Job summary

Sportsman Boats is seeking an experienced Gelcoat Operator to apply gel coat to molds in a manufacturing setting in Summerville, SC. This full-time role runs Monday–Thursday, 3:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. and focuses on color, finish, and thickness according to specifications and the production schedule.

You will work to maintain safety, quality, and efficiency, operate gel coating equipment, and support process improvements while ensuring a clean, safe work environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of gel coating open molds experience.
• Proficient with hand tools, operating a chopper and gel coat gun.
• Knowledge of coating systems preparation, evaluation and application.
• Experience with solvents, gel coats and release agents.
• Ability to pass respirator fit test.
• Ability to follow production schedule and train others.
• Knowledge of hazardous chemical handling and disposal.
• Reliable transportation and good attendance.

Responsibilities

• Perform gel coating of hulls, deck molds, and small parts according to production orders.
• Clean, maintain, and test gel coating equipment to ensure proper operation.
• Maintain a clean and environmentally safe work area.
• Ensure high quality of all work.
• Initiate and recommend process improvements.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
