Job summary

Goddard Riverside Community Center seeks an energetic instructor to deliver basic education to adults and out-of-school youth in a nurturing setting. You will guide students through GED subtest prep (RLA and Social Studies) and foster inclusive learning using Google Classroom and digital literacy techniques.

The role requires strong organization, verbal and written communication, and the ability to adapt lessons to varied English proficiency levels.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education or related field; MA/MS a plus.
• Minimum of 2 years of instruction/facilitation, preferably with Reading/English Language Arts and/or Social Studies.
• Demonstrated engagement with at‑risk population.
• Experience with curriculum development with focus on thematic units of study.
• Superior organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Working knowledge of TABE for the current GED exam.
• Expertise in Common Core-aligned instruction.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic education for adults and out-of-school youth in a nurturing environment.
• Establish and embrace an environment that respects diverse backgrounds.
• Teach, develop, and help prepare students to master GED subtest sections (RLA, Social Studies).
• Utilize Google Classroom and Digital Literacy skills in a positive learning environment.
• Prepare and facilitate daily lessons based on student needs and abilities.
• Plan classwork and homework to support course objectives and literacy skills.
• Develop weekly assessments to measure mastery and progress.
• Review progress with students in meetings and discuss improvements.
• Maintain an orderly classroom and establish behavior expectations.
• Research, evaluate, and assess adult literacy issues relevant to programs.
