Job summary

The Florida Department of Corrections is seeking an Adult Basic Education/GED Instructor at Northwest Florida Reception Center to deliver Math/Science, Reading-Language Arts and Social Studies in a blended instructional model. The role reports to the Education department and includes duties such as planning, supervising inmates, assessing progress, counseling, and professional development participation.

A bachelor’s degree or higher and Florida Educator’s Certificate are required; non-certified

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college/university.
Possess or be eligible to apply for State of Florida Educator's Certificate.
Non-certified applicants must obtain a temporary State of Florida Educator’s Certificate within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

Plan, develop, and conduct classes in Math/Science, Reading-Language Arts and Social Studies.
Supervise inmates in the class, conduct roll calls, counts, and maintain attendance records.
Assess student progress, administer grades and tests, and maintain classroom discipline.
Counsel and advise individuals on program progress and behavior or personal concerns.
Participate in staff meetings, seminars, and professional development activities.
