Job summary

Brooks County Independent School District seeks a GEAR UP Coordinator to lead college readiness initiatives and support systemic reforms for student success.

The role requires TEKS expertise, instructional technology skills, and collaboration with district and Region One ESC staff to strengthen partnerships and program outcomes.

Qualifications

• Texas Teaching Certificate is required.
• Degree in counseling or counseling hours preferred.
• Knowledge of TEKS and Texas Assessment System.
• Experience with instructional technology and data management.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Knowledge of secondary school operations and structure, including curriculum and instruction, assessments and evaluation.
• Must be able to lift 20 lbs.
• Basic computer skills including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate all aspects of the GEAR UP Partnership with Region One ESC representatives.
• Promote GEAR UP goals and objectives to students, parents, teachers, and stakeholders.
• Develop training materials for workshop sessions for GEAR UP teachers, tutors, mentors, and parents.
• Initiate methods for improving campus-level implementation of GEAR UP goals.
• Develop and support GEAR UP parent initiatives at the campus level.
• Meet with teachers and students regularly to monitor GEAR UP initiatives.
• Demonstrate effective teaching practices using specialized materials and equipment.
• Monitor and report progress of GEAR UP objectives to district and regional personnel.
• Acquire knowledge and receive training to prepare students for higher learning.
• Recruit, train, and coordinate tutor activities.
• Perform budgetary, record keeping, and data management requirements.
• Maintain accurate and complete auditable documentation.
• Perform other related GEAR UP duties as assigned by the principal.

The GEAR UP Coordinator will work with cohort student group to increase postsecondary enrollment by providing leadership, training, and technical assistance in supporting systemic reform of school services for student academic success.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:
