Position Overview
Provide lean manufacturing support to company lean program. Capable of set-up and operate shaper machines and vertical/horizontal hob equipment to produce quality products and generate gear data requirements for all customer opportunities.
Essential Job Functions
- Set-up and operate gear shaping and hobbing machines
- Maintain clean and organized departments
- Analyze/interpret travelers and blueprints
- Line up tooling for machine production (leads kit with required tooling)
- Complete all paperwork to specifications
- Set-up vari-rolls for inspection
- Analyze prints and requirements to determine speeds and feeds
- Fill out first article sheets
- Know machines’ capabilities and limitations
- Make size changes accordingly
- When able, run multiple machines
Non-Essential Job Functions
- Abide by company handbook regulations
- Set-up DIATEST for initial internal and helix gears
- Determine need for new cutter or re-sharpening
Skills / Requirements
- Knowledge of DIATEST for internal and helix gears
- Ability to read and analyze blueprints
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to set-up/operate all department machines
- Moderate skills in mathematics
- Basic UTS software knowledge
- Ability to train on as needed basis
- Self-motivation
- Basic gear cutting/machine knowledge
- Ability to make machine corrections to enhance quality
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
- Five years experience in field
- Gear schools
